I have the honour to apply for the appointment of First Magistrate Hongkong, in the event of the post becoming vacant.

I enclose an extract from the Colonial Office List giving my record of Service up to September 1897, and also a table of my service in Hongkong since that date.

I was called to the Bar Lincoln's Inn in Easter Term 1899, and have passed the final standard in three dialects of Chinese, Tie-Chiu, Cantonese and Hokkien.
